Please note: Insurance receipts are not available for psycho-educational services
Educational Services
These sessions assist students who have educational and/ or psychological/emotional needs impacting their ability to learn and/or reach their full academic potential.
The following options are available to parents who wish to customize the sessions to meet the changing developmental needs of their child;
- Remediation - assists children to fill in gaps in their learning.
- Homework support - provides parents with a break from "homework wars" and students an opportunity to learn homework completion, organization, study skills, test-taking skills and planning skills while working on areas of the school curriculum.
- Emotional support - provides strategies to help students develop self-advocacy, and self-esteem, improve attention and focus.
- Transitional skills - assists students transitioning between elementary and high school and high school to post-secondary.
- "Accelerated learning/learning retention - assists children who have the potential to make rapid academic gains once they are taught according to their learning style. In summer, this program allows children to retain their current level of skill development while on vacation; a time when learning deteriorates in many exceptional children.
Advocacy training
These sessions assist parents to become more effective in dealing with their school with regard to their exceptional child's social, emotional, behavioural and academic progress.
Typical discussions include all aspects of current progress, IEP (Individual Education Plan) development,
implementation and evaluation.
Sessions can also review psycho-educational assessments and address how to arrange for IPRC (Identification, Placement, Review Committee).
The overall goal of these sessions is to instruct parents in how to effectively work with their school to create a strong parent-school partnership to support their child's education.
